Snips, Snails and Polka Dots!!!

Guess who I played with this weekend???? Yes Hank came to spend Saturday, Saturday night & Sunday. Oh, his mom and dad came also!! His dad had to spend all day studying both days (he's in nursing school!), so daughter and Hank came and played. The weather was great, and we had a super fun time. He's here with Natalie, the neighbor of my in-laws. Natalie & her parents also attend church with us, and we have become quite good friends. Natalie's dad built her this "super jungle gym" with a slide at each end, a covered sandbox, playhouse with windows (this is where they are sitting), and swing area. Hank had the best time. They found a large worm, and Hank kept talking about the "snake"!!

I really like side photos of kids "being kids". This is Hank playing in the sandbox (no kidding, duh???), and having the best time. We had to bribe him to leave. Luckily Natalie had a "tractor" she had outgrown, and gave it to Hank, so we had that to bribe him to leave with!!!

This is the wedding cake I delivered on Saturday. I always have this FEAR of the cake falling over and onto the floor the minute I drive away! I didn't receive a phone call today, blasting me, so it must have stayed upright. It just makes me so dadgummed nervous!!!

Polka dots she said. Black polka dots. And a turquoise ribbon. Hearing it, it sounds rather bizarre, but it turned out just gorgeous. At least I thought the colors worked well together.

This is the little cake I make for them to cut and feed one another. They can take the picture with the large cake, to look like they are cutting into it, but it's so difficult to cut from the standing cake and feed the large layers to one another, so I came up with the idea to make a "mini" cake for them to feed one another. It sets behind the wedding cake, so no one else sees it.

And this is the groom's cake. Hmmmm--well, I don't pick the theme for this one. It was a replica of his car, and he emailed me a photo and said to do a "cartoon" type image. Hmmm, well I hope he was pleased with this!!!

Saturday night we grilled steaks for Hank, his parents and our son. It was a fun evening, sitting around the dinner table, watching my grown children converse, and interact with Hank. Can't believe the time has gone so quickly! It should still be MY son in the high chair. The second generation really does make you want to slow down time.

Well, as you can tell, it was a busy family weekend. Next weekend is just as busy, as I have a luncheon to prepare and serve, and then a social function I must attend.

So maybe housework will come the last weekend!!!

Oh yes, AND next Sunday I want to go to a book signing. Trisha Yearwood has published a cookbook which got a really good write up in the paper. I do collect cookbooks, and this one sounds good, and I'll get to actually see Trisha and her mom and her sister. I had quite a beef with Trisha for quite sometime, but many things have happened publicly with Garth's ex-wife, and shown a light on her true self. So I will forgive Trisha and buy her book. Plus, I do think she sings real pretty & she's pretty & not pencil thin--I really like that in a gal!!!

Back to work tomorrow! Best get some rest from this point in the evening on!!!

Have a great end of the weekend evening!!!
