It would just be something bigger to maintain, bigger payment, etc." Our current mortgage is $500 (including taxes and insurance) IN OWASSO! The neighborhood isn't new, but it's not ancient. The house isn't brand new, but like you say, it's a roof. It's cheaper to fix up and remodel than burden ourselves with a mortgage that we may not be able to pay if something happened to our jobs.
